The Yarra Valley is regarded as one of the premiere wine regions of the world and has developed into far more than just a growing region. The wine industry is now the mainstay of this beautiful region to the east of Melbourne, and around it has grown a flourishing tourism environment. With over 100 Cellar Doors, mainstream vignerons and a myriad of boutique vineyards offering a selection of cool climate wines including award winning sparkling wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Equally impressive are the full-bodied Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon styles. Rolling green hills, rows of ripening grapes on the vine, luscious fruits, cheeses and wine tasting are what the Yarra Valley promises its visitors. The whole region is a gourmet's delight, with many festivals celebrating food or wine. In fact, one of Victoria's major regional events, Grape Grazing, focuses on the region and its produce annualy in February. The Yarra Valley is aptly named... the famous Yarra River winds its way slowly down from the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and eventually reaches the City of Melbourne and Port Phillip.
The Great Dividing Range, extending almost the entire length of the eastern seaboard, surrounds the Yarra Valley with a wall of greenery that is rich in a diverse range of wildlife and flora. Most famous of all is the vast stands of Mountain Ash soaring to heights of over 150ft. The canopy of the Mountain Ash sentinels hides a stunning underlayer of fern glades, wattles, waterfalls and tracks of discovery for walkers of all levels of fitnes. Mt. Donna Buang's Rainforest Gallery takes you right up into the treetops to an observation platform set amongst 300 year-old heritage trees. This is the Yarra Ranges National Park, the largest national park in Victoria, and arguably the most beautiful.
Our reception staff are very proud and happy to provide an array of brochures detailing points of interest in and around Marysville, the Yarra Valley and the Ranges.
